Amazon Best Sellers Rank:

I’m still processing my thoughts on this book. Jane Henry is a new author to me and I just so happened to come across this book. What I can say is I loved it. Everything about it. Adrian and Nadine were definitely complete opposites, but the chemistry and sexual attraction was explosive and off the charts.I’m not really into the whole Dom/Sub books (and saying that there was a lot of that) but this was just enough for me. It wasn’t a lot and Jane gave you a taste, that left you craving for more. I hope this couple have a novella or his brothers have stories. Now I need to stalk this author and see what her other books are all about.

The book had 3269 locations on my kindle. The book was about a man, named Adrian and a woman, named Nadine. Nadine was a 29 year old virgin and marshal. Adrian was a 37 year old man, convicted of murder, who had escaped from prison. Nadine captures Adrian. The plane, Adrian and Nadine were on crashed, leaving them stranded on a beautiful Island. The book contained a forced oral sex scene, sex play, an intimate shaving scene and some decent sex, more than half way thru. The book also contained some spanking, with hands and a belt. The characters were ok. Adrian was forceful, strong, caring, sweet, thoughtful and dominant. Nadine was a strong and resourceful woman. The book had a happy ending. I didn't like the fact, that we never found out more about Nadine's personal issues. I also didn't like the fact, that we didn't get justice for Adrian. I have read some dark romances, but this didn't seem dark to me.

3.50-3.75 StarsNadine is a U.S. Marshall who successfully captures Adrian after he escapes from prison while serving a life sentence for murder. During the flight back to the States, the plane loses fuel and crashes near the beach of a deserted island. Nadine wakes up and discovers that she and Adrian are the only survivors and now she's the captive. There were too many conveniences on the island that assisted Adrian and Nadine in their survival, such as shelter, tools, and easily found water and food. It made it seem pretty unrealistic and wasn't what I was expecting when I started the book. The Dom/Sub part of the story was pretty tame compared to a number of other books I've read. Classifying it as a "dark romance" is pushing it a bit, but I guess technically that's what it was. I liked the story well enough and it was a pretty fast read. Adrian and Nadine were both okay characters, but nothing stood out about either of them.

Darkly disturbing book at some points, but a great read, one that I couldn't put down. This was a cover to cover non-stop read for. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. A strong female agent tracking a mafia son that escaped from prison, a plane crash that killed all but two, Bdsm, sex, romance, and an Hea, what more could you want in a great book, this is one book you won't want to miss.

A little bit of everything. Story of an agent who apprehended an escaped convict, plane crashed and they are the only two survivors. A little mystery, romance, sex, and finding that what we think we want, is not what it is cracked up to be. What we thought was undesirable actually thrills us. A story of self and questioning what we took for granted. Reevaluation of what is important in life.

This story was really not dark like some of the books out there. Yes, there is some dubious consent and the male character is harsh with the female at the beginning, but once trust and understanding are reached things change between the two of them. It’s always fascinating to see how you think you know what you want, but when you get it , it’s not really what you want or need anymore! Great story with a very satisfying and happy ending.

This started off rough, but there is a HEA. Adrian is an escaped prisoner and Nadine is the U.S. Marshall that has been tasked to find him. She catches him and us bringing him back to the U.S. when the plane they are on goes down. Everyone is killed except the two of them. Adrian saved her and then treats her as his prisoner.

I only picked up this book because of a review I read about how it wasn't as dark as advertised, and I'm glad I did. I totally enjoyed this book. Haven't read a book in awhile that kept me captive, made me repeatedly pick it back up, and made me cry (though it is an HEA). Great story. Different. Good characters. Great read.

Amazon.com Review

After watching a figure-skating performance, do you ever wonder what just happened on the ice? The skater supposedly executed a flawless double Salchow and triple Lutz, among other things, and then the judges posted a bunch of numbers. Maybe you need help from the Dummies. Written by 1992 Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi (with a foreword by Scott Hamilton), Figure Skating for Dummies is a primer for spectators and would-be skaters alike. Learn the lingo, understand the judging practice, and--if you're really committed--embark on a practical training schedule in hopes of performing your own double-toe loops and triple axels.

Good for new skaters at our rink that want to learn the basics for jumps and spins. BTW, we are artistic roller skating on quads and it's the same mechanism for freestyle as on ice!

I have no idea about this book, bought it as a present for a niece.

This book was not only extremely informative but it was written with a fun, light tone that made reading enjoyable. Everything was very user friendly and never, at any given time, was I slightly confused or bored. Great book for skaters (because secrets are revealed) and non-skaters (who always wondered about the names of things, how certain moves are done, etc.).

This book tell you detail of figure skate and good guide for parents and biginnger skater.I always like her book.

It's decent book. A bit of color would have helped a lot.

I am an adult figure skater who began skating 2 years ago. It's nice to have a book that explains things I need to know about the sport.

Great book on figure skating and easy read

The book goes from the very basic stokes to the very difficult jumps. It was a disappointment to me as it did not illustrate or describe the "how to's" This is not an instructional book but rather a book for spectators or parents rather than the student skater.

*** 3.5 stars ***Before I start I would like to say that I appreciate that this author took on such a huge topic that many refuse to talk about. Hell most people don't even what to acknowledge that mental illness exist much less talk about it. As a suffer of mental illness I appreciate the author bringing this topic to some form of light. People can't see the symptoms of mental illness so therefore they don't believe it exists. An invisible illness. Thanks so much for broaching it.That being said I enjoyed this book. The reason for my four star rating is because I thought the word cu** was used far too much. I mean come on there are other words that can be used. I mean cu** is fine at times just not all the freaking time. It literally was the only word used. I think that Brendon and Kaylee could have been an explosive couple but there was just something lacking. Maybe because Kaylee was so naive and Brendon was a bit of a coward. He did everything he could to not be with Kaylee while she just kept hanging onto anything he gave her. I was so over him by the time they finally got together. Kaylee was a extremely young and untouched and just hopped into the whole BDSM thing like she had always been doing it. I was not expecting this book to be about BDSM in the bedroom. I don't normally prefer it - but Kaylee knew next to nothing and it wasn't really believable. As much as I am grateful to the author for bringing mental illness into the spotlight I feel that the way Kaylee's was approached and played out was a bit unrealistic. I literally live with mine everyday and it's just not the way the author described it. The side characters were good and added a lot to the story. However the book was slow to get going and even then it was still slow at times. I almost didn't finish it because it just kept going and going without much happening. This book was good but it had the potential to be so much more. Which is always disappointing. I liked it enough that I will eventually check out the other books in this series.

I liked Tempting better than Dangerous Kiss, which was included when I downloaded. Brendon and Kaylee had great chemistry, and each had to fight against themselves at times to make it work. I could relate to what Kaylee was grappling with, feeling broken and fighting depression. Dangerous Kiss was too repetitious for me. I had to force myself to finish the story. Ethan and Vi are okay characters, but they deserved to be miserable at times because they brought it on themselves.Overall, both stories need some light proofreading. It is annoying and interrupts the story. The first couple it's easy to overlook, but more than that is frustrating. Some examples: "chocking" when it should be choking, "titled" when it should be tilted, no punctuation at the end of a sentence, "You're got this, Vi" when it should be You've, and etc.

It took me a long time to finish this book. I felt bored alot of the time. There were alot of almost pointless conversations that got boring quickly. Also, the style of writing is weird to me. Alot of repetitive phrases and words. And I mean repetitive! It didnt flow to me like it should have. The plot was kinda boring and of course had to be drawn out to try to make readers think it's interesting. I felt like an adolescent wrote this book. Totally not worth the 4 bucks. There just isnt much to offer with this book. I expected alot more. It was a shallow read with not so interesting characters. The most interesting parts are the sex scenes, which still arent that great.

As always, I loved this story by Crystal Kaswell. This is the story of an older brother who is in "lust" with his younger sister's best friend. Brendon is a caring, protective older brother who has guardianship over his sister since their parents died. He struggles with his desire for Kaylee and his feelings that he is not "good enough" for her. The two are forced into close quarters and their relationship and feelings can no longer be denied. This was a wonderfully developed story with in depth/slightly damanaged characters and a HEA. Highly recommend this read! "I received an advanced copy of this manuscript and am voluntarily leaving an honest review."

This one is a little slow in the beginning. I didn’t like how Kaylees parents didn’t involve her in what was going on. Especially in the beginning when they were moving across the country. And throughout the book dealing with her grandmothers condition. She is definitely a very young and naive 18 year old but I feel like she should have been given the facts. I adore Brendon and how he tries his best to do the thing (at least what he thinks is the right thing). The friends are awesome and very supportive of them being together and not one bit shy of letting their feelings be known. Great beginning to this series.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading about Brendon and Kaylee's story. A fantastic storyline with a few twist and turns that had me on the edge of my seat and unable to put my kindle down until the very end. The characters are hilarious, witty, outspoken and outlandish.Katee has had a crush on her best friends brother of ever and only hopes and prays he would look at her as an adult since she is now 18 years old. Yes, she is aware of the age difference and the fact that her parents left her in his care, but she just can not help the way she feels about him. But unbeknownst to her, Brendon is crushing on her as well and is doing everything possible to bury his feelings for her. When you have nosy co-workers that are family as well its kind of hard to hide certain things from them and when they are aware, they never hesitate to throw it in your face at the most inopportune time (but they mean well). Although their relationship is filled of secrets, hurts and a lot of angst, the two together makes each other happy and tends to quiet their darker thoughts. Their sexcapades are raw with a bit of kink and very intense.P. S. Can't wait to start Walker's story.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*This novel grabs the reader right from the start: "Not every thirteen-year-old girl is accused of murder, brought to trial, and found guilty. But I was just such a girl..." Starting with the explanation that Charlotte is supposed to be traveling across the Atlantic from England to America with two other families, because her own family went ahead without her and left her to finish out her year at boarding school, we quickly learn that the other families are not coming. Charlotte will take the journey alone, the sole passenger and the sole female among the crew of men. She befriends the cook, Zachariah, who foreshadows that they will become friends because of all that they have in common: "Miss Doyle is so young! I am so old! Surely there is something similar in that. And you, the sole girl, and I, the one black, are special on this ship. In short, we begin with two things in common, enough to begin a friendship." Charlotte learns that the crew is intent on mutiny against Captain Jaggery, and that's when things start to make sense. The stowaway. The families who made the last-minute decision not to take this ship. The dirk (small knife) given to her by Zachariah. And then the first mate is murdered during a storm, and Charlotte is accused and found guilty of the crime.I love Charlotte's relationship with Zachariah. I can see Hollywood making this movie with Morgan Freeman as Zachariah (indeed, there was a movie in the early stages at one point and he was attached to play the role). I love that Captain Jaggery, who acts most civilized, turns out to be the monster -- and I love the imagery of his quarters, at first perfect and luxe, and then broken and battered after the storm in a way that mirrors how Charlotte's impression of him has changed. I love that Charlotte grows from a prim and proper girl into a young woman with such courage in her convictions that she can run away from home at the end of the book to return to her family aboard the Seahawk.Charlotte Doyle is a strong heroine for young girls. I read this book when it was first published, when I was 8 years old, and I have reread it many times since then. It's my favorite book, so much so that I named my daughter Charlotte, and I used a line from this book as my senior quote in my high school yearbook. I leave you with this line, Zachariah's wisdom: "A sailor chooses the wind that takes the ship from a safe port. Ah, yes, but once you're abroad, as you have seen, winds have a mind of their own. Be careful, Charlotte, careful of the wind you choose."

I loved this book when I was in middle and high school. I wanted to read it again. I actually still owned a copy of it. With my current book challenges, I had the perfect reason to read it again. It did not disappoint. Unlike many stories, this book was just as good as it had been when I read it as a teen. The story follows young Charlotte Doyle. She is scheduled to travel on a merchant ship back home to Rhode Island from England. There is supposed to be two other families on board, but they fail to show. As soon as she boards, the young lady knows there is something amiss. Vague warnings and unusual occurrences start the warning bells buzzing in her head. After a failed attempted mutiny, Charlotte joins the sailors. She becomes one of the crew, working along side them from dawn to midnight, taring the deck and taking a watch. Danger from both human and ship lead to a very gripping tale on the sea. Every day, Charlotte adds some to her journal, leaving evidence of the crimes committed on board.I love this book. It is fascinating to watch Charlotte grow from a young, sheltered girl to a hardworking, independent young lady. You learn a lot about what the crew goes through on a long voyage, as well as the differences in social classes that were prevalent at the time. It would be a great book for a tween/teen girl. Also, anyone who wants to learn some basics about old-time sea faring would like this book. It is an easy read, but keeps you engaged throughout. It actually has a lot of suspense for a young adult book (at least those I read when I was younger, I don’t know about today’s books). It is simply a great book.

This book kept me, a 40-something year old temporarily retired school teacher turned homeschool mom- on the edge of my seat. I read it bc my daughter is reading it as school work. I would read ahead of her so I could keep up with comprehension and found myself telling her, "You won't believe what's going to happen! It's crazy!" At one point I even walked into her room one evening sobbing and told her, in jest of course, that she couldn't read it anymore bc it's too sad! This was just SUCH a great book...for anyone...of any age!!

My students were on the edge of their seats! This book says "young adult" on it, but it is appropriate for 4th to 5th grade, I believe--though there is plenty of danger and intrigue! Avi does not condescend to young people--and the material is engaging because of that. Intelligent, moving, heart-stopping, rewarding. One of the best novels I have read to keep students fascinated by reading. This one is definitely one of the best.

I am a sixth grade English teacher new to MCPS in Maryland. This book is one of three students may choose to explore the elements of adventure. For many students this is a first attempt at independent reading. It was somewhat successful. Next year I will plan literature circles to gauge understanding and practice summarizing.

I read this book to my 4th grade students when I was interning and I never miss an opportunity to share it with my students. I am now reading it with my own 2nd and 4th grade children. This book is great. Girls and boys alike will love this book. It brings out a sense of adventure in all of them. As an adult, I even enjoyed reading it! It's well written, exciting, and something even a child doesn't want to put down!

I have read this book twice now and enjoyed it just as much the second time. This is a great book for readers young and old.Charlotte leaves England a proper young lady of 13, bound for her home in America. The details of her adventure are historically accurate and enthralling. This is a true adventure story that is sure to take its place among many beloved classics.

Great book for middle schoolers, especially girls. The protagonist Charlotte challenges the times of what is expected of a girl. This book has suspense, murder, and adventure. You definetly root for Charlotte!

This applies solely to the Kindle edition... At $.99, not worth the price. I had to give it one star, no stars is not accepted...The Kindle edition is apparently a 100% unedited / unreviewed scan of the book. The result of the 'character recognition' is slightly above random garbage, an excerpt as it appears in the Kindle edition on 2/11/2015: There are strong grounds, Marsden says, for belieTjlng that this date of 1250, although found in all the editions, is incorrect. If, like myself, you unfortunately bought this trash, get a refund from Amazon.

I first read this book when a teacher lent it to me in 7th grade, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. It was fascinating to read his adventures. As he traveled along, he explained each town he went to, and the explanations and information were interesting to read, seeing what each town was like, who they were under the rule of, and so on. The middle part of the book explains some of his journeys and events while he was visiting the Great Khan, and the latter parts explaining his trip back to Europe by sea. This edition also includes footnotes, which the edition my teacher had didn't, correcting some of the mistakes and giving more context to the text. The language and construction of the sentences are a bit more formal and declarative than works one would more commonly read today, but it wasn't difficult to understand or comprehend. The beginning of the book focuses on Marco's first adventure to China with his father and uncle, and overall, the entire beginning was a bit hard to get through, but once you get past it, it becomes more enjoyable. Overall, I would recommend this book.

This is a recent translation with the emphasis on a modern and readable style. Actually, even 18th century travel books written in English are usually quite readable, but at least until recently translations seemed to try to be unreadable - sort of "maybe you get to read this, but by heck you're not going to enjoy it". But this is a real pleasure to read, and comes across as the account of an engaging story teller with an enquiring and open mind.

Avoid this version. It is a cheap OCR scan of a printed book, and is barely readable for the horrendous level of uncorrected OCR mistakes.I mean, really bad. Some pages seem like every other word has random punctuation, random letters... Someone thought they could just OCR a public domain book, not bother to fix it up, and just sell the crappy OCR results.Zero stars

During the 13th Century the Mongols conquered most of the world from China to the Black Sea, providing a rare window of opportunity for people to travel from Europe to the Far East. A few adventurous Europeans accomplished it. One actually wrote about it: Marco Polo. Many years later, as he lay dying, family members and the attending priest begged Marco Polo to recant all the outrageous lies he had told about his incredible adventures. He refused, insisting that everything he said and wrote had all been absolutely true. The record Marco Polo left of his travels stirred the imaginations of Europeans about the possibilities that existed beyond their own limited horizons. Little more than two hundred years later they had established a trade route around Africa to reach the Far East, and attempts to do the same thing by sailing westward had revealed the existence of two hitherto entirely unknown American continents. The Travels of Marco Polo is one of a handful of books that can truly be said to have changed the world. This is not merely another adventure story, it is THE adventure story of all time! The Polos traveled thousands of miles through unknown and hostile territory in order to reach lands hitherto only vaguely rumored to exist. They accomplished it entirely on their own, and not at the head of a conquering army, but as simple commercial travelers. On the down side, this is not the most convenient of books to get through. A good map is an absolutely necessary accompaniment to the text. Even then, many of the names commonly applied today to many of the people and places alluded to in the text have been changed. In fact, some of the places mentioned in the text don't even exist any more. That is, of course, only to be expected after the lapse of more than 700 years. This edition is provided with copious footnotes which, like the map, are an absolute necessity. However, the editors might have made things a lot easier by altering the names of the people and places to their current spelling, and providing a map with locations plotted on it, without really altering the content of the text.

An interesting history of an era I knew virtually nothing about. The TV series Genghis Khan led me to read this book and I am pleased that I did. A travel log through an unknown world that existed seemingly in a different dimension! American's don't learn this history.

I have tried to read the first few pages of this book. There are formatting and spelling mistakes on every page. It is a horrible edition. Didn’t seem to have any links embedded to go directly to any chapter. It is not good. I should have looked into it a little more but I thought it couldn’t be that bad. I was wrong. Even at $2, it’s overpriced. Don’t get this edition.

I was expecting a little more narrative than just "I went here, the people were like this, then I went to the next place," but it was still fascinating to read his adventures.
