I bought two copies of this book. One as a birthday gift for my son's friend and one for my boys. When I sat down to read it to my boys, I was shocked by the content. It discussed a player getting stabbed and then beating a man nearly to death, another "cutting classes, stealing, and chewing tobacco" as a child, tantrums and poor sportsmanship by grown men, racism, steroids, etc., yet despite their behavior these men are hailed as heroes and their behavior is accepted because they were good baseball players. Maybe I'm overprotective, but I felt that this content was inappropriate and sent the wrong message for such a young target audience.
A great way to get the kids to read more. A subject my son loves and was willing to read without crying about it!
This book is not for young readers!! It tells stories about bad sportsmanship, anger issues, DUI’s and drug abuse.
