Hypnopoetic is a book of poems simply about poems. I have never done a review for a poem before. Although I have another one set soon. I was asked to review this and since it looked so interesting, I thought I would give it a go. The author, Kyle Faber , does a wonderful job with these poems. Now given the cover, I was expecting something a bit erotic. But the poems aren't really that way. They are more about intimacy which I liked, but they are still quite sexy. I definitely understand the hypnotic factor. These poems were just beautiful. They weren't cheesy or corny. I can't really test it, but being a woman, if a read these to me, I would be putty in his hands.I love how the poems are intimate and deal with real connections and love. The poems flowed beautifully and were quite emotional. I am not the most girly chick out there, but I think it would be very hard for even the toughest chick to pass this up. I will be keeping this book around for the future. I do recommend checking this out. So guys, if you screwed up on Valentine's Day, I think she will forgive you if you use some of these poems. They are magic.

The research examples such as interview techniques and neuroscience overview will be of interest to anyone in the field.The book seeks to expand on their previous work, tying it to future trends (social networking, neuroscience), at times seeking to reference them back to their idea of emotional signature. In the process, it comes across as somewhat disorganized and randomly structured. I had no idea when I started reading this novel that it would be about Darcy's grandparents. It was a delightful read from the grandmother's telling of her love story with her husband as Lizzy lay in bed in labor with her second child.It was a very touching story that reminded the reader of Elizabeth's impertinent ways as to that of the grandmother's ways. The grandfather, the Earl, was much different than Darcy as he went after the woman he loved with zesto and fought til he won her over to marriage.It is well written in words and actions of the characters. I loved the fact that the grandmother was doing the telling of the story and it was entertaining the way it was told.It was a pleasure to go back in an earlier time of previous relations of the families in the P & P variations. Ms. Diamond did a wonderful way of writing linking his grandparents to Darcy and Elizabeth and brought much joy to the both of them to hear the love story similar to their own love story.Thank you for an enjoyable read and this novel rates just as highly as all of your other novels I have reviewed!

Is this a prequel or a sequel to An Unwavering Trust? It was a lovely story of how Rebecca Fairchild met and fell in love with Gerald, the Earl of Matlock. I had trouble keeping track of the time period because it was mainly a flashback.The story opened with Elizabeth Darcy in her confinement. Grandmamma was comforting her between contractions and Elizabeth had requested the story of how Darcy’s grandmother met and eventually married her husband, the Earl of Matlock. OMG!!! This was the coolest story. The author was so creative in creating a delightful story of love at first sight and it so paralleled the Darcy/Bennet story. I couldn’t help but giggle when scenes would occur or dialogue would mimic P&P. It was so cute. I just love this couple.Their story was so lovely even when they fought like cats and dogs… remind you of any one we know? Her initials are Elizabeth Bennet. Oh my, Rebecca was just like our dear girl in so many ways and the family situation was similar in that Rebecca also has a sister very much like Lydia. Delightful.As much as I loved it, since I read it first, I was confused as to whether it should be read before or after An Unwavering Trust. Sometimes a story with flashbacks should be read after the main story, as it fills in those gaps in the story. This story ended at 81% with acknowledgements and a two chapter preview of An Unwavering Trust.OK, I just finished An Unwavering Trust and actually I believe The Earl’s Conquest starts at the end of AUT [An Unwavering Trust]. All the confusion I had with TEC [The Earl’s Conquest] was cleared up and it made more sense. The author wrote as though the reader had knowledge of certain events and in reality… we didn’t unless we had read AUT.However, both stories are most excellent and I loved them both. So, you decide which you want to read first. I highly recommend both.

Wonderful to read Lady Rebecca Fitzwilliam's story. Grandmamma was my favorite character in the previous work, An Unwavering Trust. I love it when authors think outside the box and bring us new situations for Darcy and Lizzy. We were introduced to the brandy flask in the previous novel, and now we know how it came about...as well as the rumor of cigars. What an amazing young lady who became the charming and powerful, Lady Matlock. The most endearing setting for the telling of her story, during Lizzy's confinement, was just the icing on the cake. Once you have enjoyed The Earl's Conquest, be sure to read An Unwavering Trust. It will complete the story for you. I recommend all of L.L. Diamond's books. If you like modern Darcy and Lizzy stories then read A matter of Chance and then the other one for our precious couple is Rain and Retribution. Gems one and all.

This book is a prequel to L.L. Diamond's Unwavering Trust. It follows the love story of Rebecca and the Earl of Matlock.What I liked about this variation: I really loved Rebecca in Unwavering Trust, so it was nice to be able to get more information about her own relationship with the Earl, who had passed before the Unwavering Trust. I liked how fiercely loyal the Earl was to Rebecca. He reminded me of Colonel Fitzwilliam. He was kind, caring, funny, and loyal. I thought it was interesting how evil Rebecca's mother and sister were. They were well written. I enjoyed that we see a different side to Sarah in the end. And, of course, I love all the ties back to P&P.What I wasn't fond of: Although I enjoyed this book, I definitely enjoyed all of L.L Diamond's other books a little more. This one lacked something. I did not care for how rude Rebecca was when we first meet her. 'Rude' may not be the right word. Indignant perhaps. She would get upset at any word that the Earl muttered. She was CONSTANTLY taking offense to everything. I guess that's the biggest difference between Elizabeth and Rebecca. Elizabeth would find some amusement in most conversations, whereas Rebecca was just offended at everything.Definitely worth the read, but I won't be revisiting.

I just loved this latest story from LL Diamond. This is the story of Darcy's maternal grandmother and how, while Elizabeth is in labor, she insists on hearing Grandmama's story of how she met her future husband and how she did not want to fall in love; it follows the story in "A Unwavering Trust". I just couldn't put it down until I finished, and then I had to go back and reread parts. And now I am starting the read over again. Wonderful character development. I highly recommend it.

This is another great book by L.L. Diamond. The characters were fun and the story was quite the play on Jane Austen stories, which made me smile. Also, if you have read "An Unwavering Trust", you will love reading Rebecca's love story. She is such a wonderful woman and her story is just as delightful. I hope Diamond continues to write her fantastic book. Enjoy!

It is also of value to researchers and practitioners who must critically evaluate the literature of published clinical trials and assess the merits of each trial and the implications for the care and treatment of patients. The authors use numerous examples of published clinical trials to illustrate the fundamentals. The text is organized sequentially from defining the question to trial closeout. One chapter is devoted to each of the critical areas to aid the clinical trial researcher. These areas include pre-specifying the scientific questions to be tested and appropriate outcome measures, determining the organizational structure, estimating an adequate sample size, specifying the randomization procedure, implementing the intervention and visit schedules for participant evaluation, establishing an interim data and safety monitoring plan, detailing the final analysis plan, and reporting the trial results according to the pre-specified objectives.Although a basic introductory statistics course is helpful in maximizing the benefit of this book, a researcher or practitioner with limited statistical background would still find most if not all the chapters understandable and helpful. Excellent book to get a better understanding regarding clinical trials. Well written. I just need to get a general understanding of what constitutes an acceptable trial so I am not sure how the information will work for someone actually conducting a trial though.

As a former republican and somewhere reluctant libertarian, I found this book to be a godsend. It's been difficult to figure out where I fall in the political spectrum and this book fixed me. I think it should be read by anyone unhappy with their party, anyone happy with their party, and anyone that isn't hard headed.

I always listen when Charles C W Cooke speaks on TV. He is erudite, charming and urbane. He is also laser focused and intelligent.I sort of knew my way politically in a fit and start manner and thought I was headed in this direction. It just made sense. The book crystalized things.If you want a good read and feel like neither political party speaks your language...buy the book and open your eyes.

I adopted the label Conservatarian to harmonize viewpoints of mine that are utiliatarian, humanitarian, and vis family loyalty and my love for the Holiday season, my own conservative opinions. This book is how i found that label.Cooke makes mention of Churchill, the civil rights movement, even brings up John Wayne (p. 74). He even makes mention of Walt Disney, Mark Twain, and the Beatles.He quotes writers i've read such as centrist Jonathan Haidt, conservative Michael Medved, FA Hayek, and reformicon Ross Douthat.I recommend this book for persons who have conservative viewpoints who don't want the label for one thing (FA Hayek comes to mind), and don't want the errors of certain movement conservatives ascribed to them for another. I recommend this book for people who have conservative opinions who live and/or work in blue states full of democrats.I recommend this book for libertarians who have conservative, or even progressive viewpoints as well.My opinion: Fusionist Frank Meyer argued that freedom and tradition/order were in 'tension.'Cooke's work, by contrast, shows that freedom, reason, tradition, and order can be harmonized.Buckley the penitent reactionary argued against integration.Cooke's conservatarian philosophy is pro-civil rights, as a bona fide philosophy of constitutionalism should be(see Harry Jaffa).Buckley and Meyer thought they would decide who was conservative and who was not. (They couldn't and had no way to anyway. )Cooke, by contrast, acknowledges that conservatarians do, will, and shall have diversity of opinion. (p.28). i myself am a pro-Israel conservatarian, even if some other person with the label might not be. My own Israel test is a simple and easy one: just don't be anti-Israel.Cooke passes.It's called freedom of thought, contingent only on the no-harm principle.)Cooke recommends being pro-religious freedom, pro-civil liberties, rather than trying to 'stand athwart history and yelling stop.'Cooke proves that a religious person could take a hardline against an anti-hetero pseudo-activistand still respect the constitutional rights of disapproved of 'others' . The label conservatarian is a positive service for cultural conservatives who don't bash gay persons.Cooke, i assert, is correct to say that cultural conservatives should protect religious freedom (peaceful assembly being in that same first amendment), and as the good book notes, 'all these things shall be added unto you.I recommend this book for those who call themselves centrists and/or those who are moderate on social issues.The 'radicalism' you find here is that of straight-forward constitutionalism. And some of the ideas mentioned in this book could help minimize the unwanted hate mongering and fear mongering.So i recommend this book to liberals who have conservative viewpoints.Cooke also mentions what i have said about conservatism and conservatives for years: They need to follow their good ideas, not the failed and bad ones, and that they should start putting the Right set of words on it, in the right way, for the right reason, and in the right measure. ((my husband wrote this review))).

A supremely well-written and highly engrossing discussion with persuasive insights in to how conservative thinking has evolved to its current form, its current opportunities and challenes, and how to best address same. The author is a deeply thoughtful individual with exceptional editorial talent.

Fantastic read. Brilliantly and eloquently makes the case for conservative/libertarian political views. Witty and interesting.

Very solid writing. He doesn't seem to conform fully to one side. He's willing to critique the right side (as well as the left). I had watched him on HBO and heard about this book from that, hithey recommend for all readers, regardless of political view.
