I'm a swing dancer (lindy hopper) and this book was so helpful and interesting. I didn't know about a lot of the origins of phrases we use now, or realize that certain people knew each other. The writing style is friendly and engaging; I would probably enjoy this book even if I weren't a dancer.

Very good condition even if it's second hand! Came faster than planned.I just loved this book, will read it again, Frankie Manning is so funny and It's been a real pleasure to read all of his swinging adventures!

I have been a student and admirer of Frankie Manning's ever since my first dance lesson with him almost ten years ago. Frankie is a legendary dancer, an innovator and pioneer in the dance form called "Lindy Hop" that started in the Jazz Age in the streets of Harlem and continues to this day in clubs, schools and dancehalls all over the world.I've been hearing Frankie tell his inspiring stories for a long time now, but never with this rich detail and the larger historical context provided by Ms. Millman to back them up.From his days as a child at rent parties to the heyday of the Savoy Ballroom to performing internationally with the dance troupe Whitey's Lindy Hoppers, you follow the exciting growth of a young dancer. Then we follow Frankie into the war years and his dropping out of the swing world for several decades. Fortunately in the 1980s, Frankie is coaxed out of retirement and continues to do this day to teach and inspire others about this wonderful dance.Throughout it all, you cannot help but be touched by Frankie's grace, style and humor in navigating tumultuous, often racially-charged situations. I want to be Frankie when I grow up.A great read for anyone interested in African-american history, dance, or jazz.

I was fortunate to have met Frankie twice before I read the book. This gave me the face and voice to put the words to. As I read, it was as if Frankie was there talking to me with all the wit , humor and charm he has in person. Frankie's excitement in telling his stories makes you wish you could have been there with him. Frankie does a wonderful job of taking you through his life experiences in a way that you just can't put the book down. For me the book is about much more than dancing Lindy Hop. It's about how to live your life which is finding your passion and becoming the best, not to become famous or rich, but because it gives you purpose and that gives others inspiration. Thanks for putting Frankie's life into words. He is someone I wish my kids, grand kids and all future generations could have met. I hope this book soon becomes a movie so all the world can once again see Frankie Manning on the dance floor.

Certainly, every Lindy Hopper must read this book. But I think it's a beautiful and important book for people outside of the swing dance community too. Frankie Manning was an unsung hero. He and the other members of Whitey's Lindy Hoppers helped were instrumental in a dance that shaped and influenced our culture and our history.

This is a book every Lindy Swing Dancer should read. If you love Lindy, you should know the history, and most of all, know who Frankie Manning is!!!! I've bought one for each of my dance helpers as gifts of thank you. I got mine the day it was released!

Frankie Manning is a fascinating individual. I understand a lot more about swing dancing.

I made personally Frankie Manning and he is a sweet guy. Being myself a swing dancer, I enjoyed reading his unique journey through time. As others have stated, this book seems somewhat slim for the price. But, it is chock full of ideas on how you can, all by yourself, make many useful solar devices for nothing, or almost nothing. Just about any one of these projects will save you more than the cost of the book. I've been studying energy efficient building techniques since the early 1979's, so I was aware of many of the ideas presented, but I still found enough to make the book worth it to me. We don't need government mandates, handouts, or other manipulation. We just need to get busy and do it! If you don't know how, this book will get you started. And it won't cost you much! The addition of information on how to survive a disaster situation is excellent. You will likely be the most comfortable person on your block if the power goes off. I would also like to thank Mr Harris for republishing the book Solar Air Heating Systems by Steve Koerner and Andy Zaugg. It is still one of the best books on the subject of solar air heaters.

This book had a lot of unique, common-sense ideas that probably most people have never thought of. I liked the fact that the author had experience with an actual extended loss of power. Most suggestions require building materials and an ability to lift heavy things or knowledge of how to build things. Would be a great book for a handyman-type person. It did make me think about why we are not using more sources of solar energy.

The main book, "Sunshine to Dollars," is only 38 pages long, but the ideas offered have had my mind spinning ever since I got the book. I have read and re-read and re-read it! There are several ideas from it that I will be trying out soon. It's a very hands-on, user friendly book.

Not very interesting and not as helpful as I’d hoped

As stand alone ideas they work very well. Depending on where you live it is more useful, such as in the northern tier. His ideas can be easily adapted to different situations. The book gets you thinking along more useful lines of thought.

This is the best hands on solar book there is.... one of the other commenters does not like it because the book does NOT go into the gloom and doom world of peak oil and that the sky is falling because this book is all about what YOU CAN DO WITH SOLAR ENERGY... without spending much money.. JUST DO THE LOOK INSIDE AND SEE FOR YOURSELF.... how to make a solar oven that bakes 20 loaves of bread for $9, how to make solar hot water heaters from a door, 3 2x4's and an old door...gets water to 185F in the winter in Michigan, this is something you can do in 30 minutes for almost zero dollars. The book is uplifting, the book is positive the book is about you can do it and not about whoa is me, the sky is falling. The book shows you how to make a solar hot air heater that you can put in like an window air conditioner and the book shows you how to get all of the glass you could want for making all the solar heaters you could want for free....free glass is available in every single city, for the asking.Again, this book is NOT about what 'other' people are doing, what 'other' people might do in the future this book is about WHAT YOU CAN DO NOW with your own hands and for little money. There is not a better DIY Solar book on the market.Steve

About the Author

General Martin E. Dempsey, named one of the most influential leaders in the world by Time magazine (2015), recently retired after 41 years of military service. During his time in the Army, he commanded various military units including United States Central Command, where he was responsible for securing U.S. interests in the Middle East and South Asia. He served in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, accumulating 42 months in combat. In the past five years he served as the Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army and then as the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. As Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff he was the senior officer in the armed forces and the principal military adviser to the president of the United States. General Dempsey is a 1974 graduate of West Point and has master’s degrees from Duke University in literature, from the Army Command & General Staff College in military science, and from the National War College in national security strategy. He also holds an honorary doctorate degree in law from the University of Notre Dame. Ori Brafman has set a high bar for himself with the quality presented in his previous works, so that standard weighs heavy for experienced readers of his books. I have looked forward to reading Radical Inclusion since I first heard it was in the works. This volume does not disappoint! General Dempsey's writing--paved with anecdotes and stories from his over 40 years experience in the military add rhythm to the pace of the book as well as solid teachable moments throughout. The lessons? I'll let you read and find for yourself. But I will say they are important lessons to say the least. If we ever needed to hear the message of this book we need it now. If you are a leader, at any level, for a business, non profit, or whatever--you will glean wisdom and knowledge from Dempsey and Brafman.

I love this! Radical Inclusion is going to be the leadership book for today's sharing economy. I have long wondered how is it that we can increasingly jump into the personal car of a complete stranger and yet seem to increasingly distrust established organizations and today's leaders?How is it that as our access to information dramatically increases, our views appear to become more narrow? In reading General Martin Dempsey's and Ori Brafman's chapter on the digital echo, I felt I finally had the language and a tool kit to be able to think about how and why we seem to be experiencing a time of such radical polarization -- a time when it appears we have lost our ability to converse calmly, debate rationally, listen empathetically and hear divergent points of view.For example, while talking about the "fog of war," Dempsey and Brafman present us with a powerful question: "What if the fog not only denied you access to the facts, but actually convinced you of the validity of erroneous data?" as someone who served as a CEO for 25 years, I wish I had this book to ready at the outset of my career. It is an easy read with a valuable framework, lots of insights and good stories. Read it over a weekend. After reading the book I was fortunate to interview General Dempsey in front of nearly 100 CEOs, and he is thoughtful, articulate and not at alll what i would have expected in four star general before I read the book. it was an inspiring evening. Not a feel good book or a work of political correctness at all. And its message and observations are extremely timely in this time of social media and polarization of views around opposing narratives instead of fact. It is of broad application for anyone with any leadership responsibility, whether at work, at home with the family, or in the community. Pretty amazing that the former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (retired in Sept 2015) has had a decades long relationship with a tofu eating, Israeli born, adjunct prof at Cal Berkeley who specialized in peace studies but you'll need to read the book to find out why.

Overall, this is a great book on an effective leadership principle. The authors, General Dempsey and Mr. Brafman, separate the book into four main parts. The first two parts provide a description of today’s operational environment and the effectiveness of being inclusive. Part three is the main section which focuses on the leadership aspects of inclusiveness. Part four ties everything together.Of note is that the authors refer to another book by Mr. Brafman titled, The Spider and the Starfish. The leadership principles described here have a foundation in Mr. Brafman’s previous book and are supported by examples from General Dempsey’s career. For example, he describes a meeting with a Captain at a forward operating base in Afghanistan. The captain argues that the US military needs to adapt its fighting objectives to more effectively combat decentralized organizations like the Taliban. Decentralized organizations are resilient because they are inherently inclusive. The Captain then makes reference to the author’s successful use of inclusiveness in a previous legal fight with McDonalds over veganism.Bottom line: The authors did an excellent job of describing the effectiveness of being inclusive. It is a leadership principle that every manager should practice. The book is a quick read at only 176 pages and anyone who is a leader, will get something from it.

I started reading this book on a Friday afternoon, and finished it a few hours later. I didn't want to put the book down, and all of the passages in it about leadership, emotions, neuroscience, and collective decision making were so relevant and meaningful.

General Dempsey and Professor Brafman peal back the onion of leadership in the 21st Century. The book is an extremely interesting read, as well as being instructive and insightful about leadership challenges in the 21st Century. Should be mandatory reading for all who strive to be great leaders in any field.

This was a comprehensive but child-friendly book. My fourth graders enjoyed it as a read aloud to introduce a unit on ancient Egypt.

Wonderful (little) book!! Chapters: a brief history of ancient Egypt, geography and climate, getting around, Gods and Godesses, Pharaohs, Pyramids, the afterlife, everyday life, health and medicine, crime and punishment, end of a civilization, how do we know all this?, the legacy of ancient Egypt. I read it to my second grader and it was really easy to follow and interestingly fun..I didn't want to put the book down. The sketches are lovely..I think my son wants to color them all in...I just cannot wait for more in this series. I will buy them all.

AWESOME book for young children!---the entire series is the BEST!!!

Honestly, I couldn't imagine many lunches past a salad with some meat on keto but Lunch in Five gave me a ton of options! My favorite is the cauli-stir fry. Really simple and tasty. The casseroles are great too since you make a bunch of servings and take them with you to work. Great little cookbook series!

These recipes are great for bringing to work. I sometimes double the recipes to make lunch for my husband too and he says he loves them, which is great because he was so resistant to getting on a low carb diet with me.

I love this book series. When embarking on a way of eating that is significantly different from what you are used to, it is such a relief to have quick and easy guides that cover all meals for a whole month's worth of eating. Makes the transition super easy.

I LOVE this cookbook! I was tired of Pinterest recipes - loaded with expensive and hard to find ingredients along with ambiguous instructions. These recipes are simple, inexpensive AND yummy.

This was kind of a waste. First, too many of these recipes won't pack well (for example, there are two different egg "crepe" recipes with hot fillings that would be disgustingly rubbery if you let them sit in your rubbermaid until lunchtime, then tried to heat in the office microwave). Second, the book is more a list of recipe ideas. With only five ingredients, they had to leave off all the spices that would create the flavor profile they're going for (seriously, curry recipes with no spices?). If you're a decent cook, you could fill in the blanks and make the recipes work, but at that point, you're as well off searching keto and low-carb blogs for ideas.

Love this book new to keto and this book is perfect for me because of the ease of the 5 ingredients also provides lost of good info on the keto diet love this also if u have any questions it has a link to the authors and u can email them with questions I got a quick response to help me out with my question recommending it 100% going to look into buying the dessert book !

The food is surprisingly tasty and quick to make I do tweak mine's a tiny bit by adding half a cup of onions but besides that I'm loving it and it has allowed me to really stay on track with Keto.

Great recipes, but make sure you calculate your own nutritional values. I have found the values stated in the book to be significantly off from my own calculations.
